Three to seven days, not six weeks
A truck loaded in Bursa on Monday is in a German warehouse by Thursday. Compare that with four to six weeks of ocean freight from the Far East — before port delays. For fashion replenishment, furniture programs and spare-part supply, this speed changes the economics of the entire category: less capital tied up in stock, fewer forecasting errors, faster reaction to demand.
The Customs Union advantage
Türkiye is the only major manufacturing country with a customs union with the EU. Industrial goods cross the border with zero customs duty and no tariff surprises — a stability no Asian sourcing destination can offer in today’s trade environment.
Regulation is the new moat
The EU’s sustainability agenda — ESPR, the Digital Product Passport, CBAM and supply-chain due-diligence laws — rewards suppliers that can document what is in a product and how it was made. Turkish industry, deeply integrated with European standards for decades, is structurally better prepared than most competitors. Buyers who choose compliant supply chains now avoid expensive migrations later.
Beyond textiles
Türkiye posted a record $273 billion of exports in 2025, and the growth came from a much wider base than textiles: automotive ($41.5bn), chemicals ($31.9bn), machinery ($28.7bn) and furniture ($8.4bn+) all set records. The honest caveat
Türkiye is no longer the cheapest place to make things — labour-intensive, high-volume basics are migrating to Egypt and North Africa. For them, the case has never been stronger.
